A Poem

Painting by Harry Goegl
Painting by Harry Goegl

Like a wall, like a fence

Holding back the beasts.

Wild dogs - beasts.

Pumping it up and against the skin.

No more power to hold the pressure

The pressure from beneath

Unbearable pressure

Never seen or heard of

Out of the unconscious into the day

Right with me, with us and her.

Moments of recall.

Ideas of how to control the uncontrollable.

Thoughts of how to control.

How to act, how to even breathe.

Just a third of a person.

Shoulders, chest and face.

What for a change.

Turn left, turn right, breathe.

Sink and let them run.

Free the beasts.

The push runs and stands and are gone.

Adventure rises like falling off a carousel.

It is all out and off.

And now?

Sleep and rest?

Breathe when you can.

See the puppy bark and cuddle.

Winding down on the bed and

Resting for the next waves, never

To be seen again.
